Puerto Pollensa Hotel
Puerto Pollensa Hotel features a great selection of accommodation in the delightful old town and the holiday resort of Puerto Pollensa. Located in the northern and very picturesque part of the Island of Mallorca, this resort has stood the test of time and still manages to retain an air of old world charm. The area offers a good mix of modern hotel complexes, apartments and the more traditional Mallorcan family run hotels. Theres a great beach with all the normal facilities such as sun beds and parasols for hire. To the back of the beach area you will find a selection of shops, cafes and restaurants stretching along the coast and the area known as the pine walk. The old town is well worth a visit, should it be during the morning to do a bit of shopping or in the evening when you can sit and relax in a street cafe before enjoying dinner in one of the many restaurants dotted around the town. Puerto Pollensa History: The town of Pollensa (Pollença) itself is located a few miles inland of Puerto Pollensa and has a history going back many centuries. Named by settlers from Alcudia in the 14th Century, after their former Roman capital, the town has a Roman bridge, the Pont Roma, which is probably not Roman but much later. The town was established inland to protect it from raiding pirates and Puerto Pollensa was left in a somewhat isolated position to fend for itself. Puerto Pollensa in the last century has developed into a high-class seaside resort and has not been spoilt by tourism as may be said of some other more well known Majorcan resorts.
